What it does
If a red source you control would deal damage to an opponent or a permanent an opponent controls, it deals that much damage plus 2 instead.

Where it came from
Torbran, Thane of Red Fell was introduced as part of the Throne of Eldraine expansion for Magic: The Gathering, released in late 2019. The character is depicted as a legendary dwarf leader from the plane of Eldraine, a setting heavily inspired by European folklore and fairy tales. In the game's mechanics, the card serves as a powerful aggressive centerpiece for red-aligned decks, specifically designed to amplify the damage output of red sources, which aligns with the character's thematic focus on dwarven craftsmanship and fiery intensity.
The card was illustrated by Chris Rahn, a prominent artist in the Magic: The Gathering catalog known for his evocative, high-fantasy style. Rahn sought to capture the regal yet volatile nature of the Thane, portraying him in a commanding pose amidst the volcanic aesthetics of the Red Fell. Upon its release, the card received significant acclaim from competitive players for its efficiency and its ability to drastically shorten game clocks, quickly becoming a staple in both Standard and Commander formats.
