Touch of Invisibility was released in October 2001 as part of the Odyssey expansion for the Magic: The Gathering trading card game. Developed by Wizards of the Coast, the set was designed to shift the game’s focus toward the graveyard, introducing mechanics that allowed cards to be played from that zone. This particular common card was intended to provide a functional, low-cost utility spell for players utilizing Blue mana, embodying the classic magical concept of concealment.

The card’s illustration was created by artist Greg Staples, whose work often features a gritty, atmospheric aesthetic typical of the era’s card design. Staples aimed to visually interpret the ephemeral nature of the spell through a soft, blurred composition that emphasizes the subject's departure from view.
