Tranquil Cove

Tranquil Cove was first released in the 2015 Magic: The Gathering expansion set Fate Reforged. As a 'tapland' that enters the battlefield tapped and grants the player one life, it was designed as a functional piece of color-fixing for Limited and casual Constructed play. The card reflects the set's narrative focus on the historical timeline of Tarkir, illustrating the diverse and volatile landscapes of the plane as it existed centuries before the modern era.

The artwork for this specific iteration was provided by the artist Eytan Zana, who crafted the piece to emphasize the serene, sheltered geography of the location. His design sought to capture a sense of calm amidst the broader conflict depicted throughout the Fate Reforged set, leaning into the blue-white color identity of the card. Upon its release, it was received as a standard but effective utility land, frequently utilized in Draft and Sealed environments for its ability to smooth out mana bases while providing a minor survival buffer.
