What it does
Secret council — Each player secretly votes for a creature you don't control, then those votes are revealed. For each creature with one or more votes, put that many stun counters on it, then tap it. (If a permanent with a stun counter would become untapped, remove one from it instead.)

Where it came from
Trap the Trespassers was released as part of the Magic: The Gathering 'Tales of Middle-earth' Commander set in 2023. This set marked a significant milestone for Wizards of the Coast as the first full-set release to integrate J.R.R. Tolkien’s legendarium into the game's mechanics, aiming to bridge the gap between high-fantasy tabletop gaming and classic literary motifs.
The card’s illustration was handled by artist Campbell White, who utilized a moody, atmospheric style to capture the tension of an ambush within the wilderness of Middle-earth. The design leans into the tactical, reactive nature of the 'Trap' card subtype, intended to reward players for anticipating their opponents' board states. Upon its release, it was noted by players for its thematic resonance with the Ranger-themed decks of the set, effectively translating the lore of Dúnedain woodland surveillance into competitive gameplay.
