Tree of Tales

Tree of Tales was released in 2003 as part of the Mirrodin set for the Magic: The Gathering trading card game. As an artifact land, it represents the unique, metallic landscape of the plane of Mirrodin, where organic life and artificial matter converge. The artwork was commissioned from John Avon, a prominent landscape illustrator for the game known for his vibrant, expansive environments. For this piece, Avon visualized the tree as a synthetic, mechanical construct that mimics the appearance of a living organism, fitting the set's theme of a world crafted by artificial forces.
