Where it came from
The 'Truce' card, featured in the 1996 Pro Tour Collector Set, represents a pivotal moment in the early history of Magic: The Gathering. This set was curated by Wizards of the Coast to showcase the decks used by finalists at the inaugural Pro Tour in New York City, serving as a snapshot of the competitive meta at a time when the game was rapidly transitioning from a casual hobby into a structured professional sport.
The card itself, illustrated by artist Anson Maddocks, captures the ethereal and balanced aesthetic that defined the game's early aesthetic identity. While 'Truce' was originally released in the 1995 Homelands expansion, its inclusion in this commemorative collection provided players with a high-quality, fixed-deck experience, ensuring that the legacy of those formative professional tournaments remained accessible to the growing collector base.
