Tuinvale Treefolk // Oaken Boon

Tuinvale Treefolk was released in 2019 as part of the Throne of Eldraine set for the Magic: The Gathering trading card game. The set was designed to explore a top-down fantasy theme, blending Arthurian legend with the whimsical and sometimes dark aesthetic of Grimm's fairy tales. This particular card was created as a common-rarity creature with a dual-function mechanic known as an Adventure, allowing the player to cast the Oaken Boon sorcery spell before playing the creature itself, reflecting the narrative theme of characters embarking on journeys.

The artwork for the card was provided by illustrator Slawomir Maniak, who sought to capture the towering, sentient nature of the forest dwellers central to Eldraine's woodland realm. The design emphasizes the natural, moss-covered textures of the treefolk, aligning with the set's broader visual identity that prioritized earthy, vibrant tones and folkloric imagery. Upon its release, the card was received as a functional utility piece in Limited formats, praised for its versatility in providing both a board presence and a combat-focused buff.
