Tunnel Vision

Tunnel Vision was released in 2005 as part of the Ravnica: City of Guilds set, the inaugural entry in the Ravnica block for the Magic: The Gathering trading card game. Developed by Wizards of the Coast, this set was designed to explore a world-spanning city-plane governed by ten distinct guilds, introducing a complex mechanical focus on multicolored cards. As a blue sorcery, the card was crafted to embody the intellectual and often destructive nature of the Azorius or Izzet factions, serving as a powerful, albeit high-cost, tool for milling a player's library to find a specific target.

The card’s visual identity was provided by fantasy artist Dany Orizio, whose work in this era often featured a blend of sharp, focused detail and ethereal magical energy. Orizio's illustration for Tunnel Vision emphasizes the card's namesake, depicting a focused beam of arcane energy piercing through the darkness of a cityscape. The design was received by players as a high-variance, build-around-me rare that excelled in niche combo decks, particularly those designed to manipulate the top of a deck to ensure the sorcery would discard a significant portion of an opponent's library.
