Turntimber Symbiosis was released in the 2020 Magic: The Gathering set Zendikar Rising, a return to the popular adventure-themed plane of Zendikar. It belongs to a cycle of mythic rare modal double-faced cards that allow players to choose between a powerful spell on one side and a utility land on the reverse. This design was created to solve the persistent gameplay issue of 'mana screw' or 'mana flood,' offering players more flexibility in how they build and pilot their decks during competitive play.

The card was illustrated by Randy Vargas, who captured the untamed, primordial nature of Zendikar’s landscape. His art depicts the sprawling, vertical forests of Turntimber, emphasizing the symbiotic relationship between the land and the magical life forces that inhabit it.
