Uktabi Orangutan

The Uktabi Orangutan was originally printed in the 1997 Visions expansion for Magic: The Gathering, quickly gaining a cult following due to its suggestive flavor text and artwork. The card features a utility ability designed to destroy artifacts, often serving as a niche but effective tool in green decks that require disruption against mechanical threats. Its reappearance in the Jumpstart 2022 set as collector number 133 maintains this classic identity while integrating it into the modern, randomized pack-based play style that Wizards of the Coast developed to encourage accessible, draft-like experiences for both new and returning players.

The design of the card has long been centered on the interplay between its creature type and its mechanical function. The original illustration became iconic for its lighthearted depiction of the creatures, a tone that the Jumpstart 2022 iteration honors while updating the presentation to reflect the set's thematic diversity. By including the Orangutan in this set, designers provided players with a reliable, thematic artifact-removal creature, ensuring that its legacy as a quirky yet functional piece of Magic history remains relevant in the contemporary card pool.
