Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre

Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre was originally introduced in the 2010 Magic: The Gathering expansion Rise of the Eldrazi. It represents one of three ancient, god-like titans known as the Eldrazi, entities from the Blind Eternities that consume planes of existence. The From the Vault: Legends version, released in 2011, was part of a prestigious, limited-edition box set intended to celebrate some of the most iconic legendary creatures in the game's history. This specific printing features a distinct premium foiling process that sets it apart from the original release.

The visual design of Ulamog was conceptualized by the Wizards of the Coast art department to evoke a sense of cosmic horror and incomprehensible scale. Illustrating the titan proved to be a significant task, as the design needed to convey a being that defied traditional physical anatomy. The artistic direction leaned into themes of surrealism and otherworldly destruction, aiming to make the card feel like a monumental force on the tabletop.
