Ulamog's Nullifier

Ulamog's Nullifier was released as part of the Modern Horizons 3 Commander set in 2024. This card draws heavily from the Eldrazi thematic lineage established in the original Battle for Zendikar block, designed to represent the consuming void and reality-warping presence of the Eldrazi titans. The design objective was to provide Commander players with a reliable interaction piece that utilizes the 'ingest' mechanic, rewarding players for exiling cards from an opponent's library while simultaneously offering a counter-spell effect that functions as a rhythmic push and pull in competitive play.

The artwork for this particular iteration reflects the high-fantasy, cosmic horror aesthetic prevalent throughout the Modern Horizons series. It emphasizes the alien, spindly anatomy of the Eldrazi, meant to evoke a sense of inevitable erasure. Upon its release, the card was received as a functional staple for dedicated Eldrazi tribal decks, praised by the community for its ability to bridge the gap between aggressive board presence and utility-focused disruption within the multiplayer Commander format.
