Where it came from
The Undead Hand Ninja was released as part of the Secret Lair Drop series for Magic: The Gathering, specifically featured within the 'Secret Lair x Street Fighter' collection. This set was conceived as a high-profile collaboration between Wizards of the Coast and Capcom, reimagining iconic Street Fighter characters as legendary creature cards within the game's mechanics. The art direction aimed to blend the signature aesthetic of the fighting game series with the fantasy card illustration style expected by longtime players.
This particular card depicts the character Vega, reimagined through the lens of a ninja-themed card variant. The illustration maintains the character's characteristic mask and clawed aesthetic while adapting his fluid, agile combat style to the card's mechanical function. Upon its release, the drop was noted for its novelty in crossover design, drawing significant interest from both competitive players seeking unique tactical options and collectors interested in the intersection of classic arcade iconography and trading card art.
