Where it came from
United Battlefront was released as a promotional card for the Magic: The Gathering set Khans of Tarkir. It was distributed as a part of the Dragonstorm promotional program, which incentivized player participation in local game store events during the fall of 2014. The card features art by Johannes Voss and illustrates the thematic conflict of the Tarkir plane, where five warring clans vied for dominance before the timeline-altering events of the block.
The design of the card emphasizes the cooperative, multi-color mechanics central to the Khans of Tarkir set. Johannes Voss provided a vivid illustration that captures the scale of the battlefield, consistent with his established style for Wizards of the Coast. As a promotional variant, it carries the distinct set symbol and collector numbering typical of the era's organized play support, serving as both a functional game piece and a memento of the block's release season.
