Where it came from
Unquestioned Authority was originally released in the 1996 Jyhad/Vampire: The Eternal Struggle collectible card game. As a staple card within the set, it was designed to reflect the rigid, often brutal political landscape of the game's setting, where players manipulate influence and power to dominate other vampires. The mechanics are intended to represent the absolute, undeniable command a high-ranking kindred exerts over their subordinates during a political referendum.
The card was later included in 'The List,' a curated selection of cards reissued to support legacy players and introduce classic gameplay elements to modern formats. The artwork and design focus on the stark, gothic aesthetic characteristic of the World of Darkness universe, emphasizing themes of control and hierarchy. It remains a recognized, functional piece of history for those who study the evolution of tabletop card game strategy.
