Urza's Tower

Urza's Tower first appeared in the 1994 Antiquities expansion, designed to represent the immense, mechanical power of the artificer Urza. The card is part of the 'Urzatron' cycle alongside the Power Plant and the Mine, a trio that creates a potent resource-gathering engine when played together. This specific version from the 2003 Eighth Edition set marked the transition of the game to the 'Modern' frame, updating the classic card with a more contemporary aesthetic while maintaining the mechanical identity established in the early nineties.

The Eighth Edition printing features artwork by Mark Poole, who illustrated the card for its original release. Poole’s work on the Urza lands is characterized by a sense of grand, industrial scale, capturing the towering, surreal architecture of the artificer's realm.
