Valor in Akros

Valor in Akros is an enchantment card originally printed in the Magic: The Gathering set Magic 2015, and later included in the Starter Commander Decks released in 2022. Designed as a tool for creature-heavy strategies, it exemplifies the combat-focused philosophy of the Akros region on the plane of Theros, where the population prides itself on martial discipline and strength. The card rewards players for expanding their board presence, providing a temporary but impactful boost to all creatures whenever a new one enters the battlefield.

The artwork for the card was created by Johannes Voss, whose style often emphasizes dynamic lighting and a sense of heroic scale. In the context of the Starter Commander Decks, the inclusion of this card served to provide new players with a straightforward yet powerful mechanism for building momentum during multiplayer games. Upon its introduction, it was well-received by players focusing on token-based strategies, as it turns low-cost utility creatures into genuine threats capable of shifting the state of the game.
