Provenance

Where it came from

Vampire Hexmage was first introduced in the 2009 expansion Zendikar, designed to interact with the set's unique focus on planeswalkers and counters. The card quickly gained prominence in competitive play for its ability to sacrifice itself to remove all counters from a permanent, offering a highly efficient answer to powerful threats that relied on loyalty or charge counters.

The Time Spiral Remastered version, released in 2021, features the classic card frame and the distinctive art style established during its original debut. This reprint was curated to honor the history of Magic: The Gathering, placing the card within a set designed to evoke the nostalgia and complexity of older mechanics while maintaining the balance of the modern game.
