Vapor Snag

Vapor Snag was originally introduced in the New Phyrexia set in 2011, serving as a highly efficient blue tempo spell that embodied the set's theme of Phyrexian corruption. The card's design, which returns a creature to its owner's hand while dealing a small amount of damage, was intended to be a aggressive tool for blue decks to disrupt the opponent's board state while maintaining pressure. It quickly became a staple in various formats due to its low mana cost and versatility.

The version from The List, marked with the collector number MM2-66, reflects its inclusion in the curated selection of reprinted cards that appear in modern set boosters. The illustration, created by artist Igor Kieryluk, depicts a creature being consumed or displaced by ethereal, jagged energies, perfectly capturing the unsettling, biomechanical aesthetic of the Phyrexians. Upon its debut, the card was widely praised by competitive players for its balance of utility and efficiency, securing its status as a classic piece of Magic: The Gathering utility.
