Varragoth, Bloodsky Sire // Varragoth, Bloodsky Sire

Varragoth, Bloodsky Sire originated as part of the Kaldheim set released by Wizards of the Coast in early 2021. The card was designed as a legendary creature inspired by Norse mythology, embodying the plane's themes of heavy metal aesthetics and brutal environmental challenges. Within the broader Kaldheim Art Series, this specific item was produced as a premium collectible card, featuring the original illustration enlarged and printed on high-quality cardstock to emphasize the visceral, dark fantasy artistry central to the set.

The illustration was crafted by artist Campbell White, who utilized a dramatic, crimson-heavy color palette to convey the demon's status as a manipulator of the blood-skies. The design process focused on translating the terrifying scale of a demon lord into a vertical portrait format, distinguishing it from standard gameplay cards. Upon release, the Art Series was well-received by collectors for providing a cleaner, textless showcase of the set's conceptual vision, allowing the intricate linework and lighting effects to stand as the primary focus.
