Vedalken Orrery

Vedalken Orrery was originally released in 2004 as part of the Fifth Dawn expansion for the Magic: The Gathering card game. Designed as an artifact that allows players to cast spells as though they had flash, it reflects the mechanical focus of the Mirrodin block, which prioritized artifact-heavy interactions and complex board states. The card was illustrated by David Martin, who employed a clean, technical aesthetic to emphasize the mechanical and scholarly nature of the Vedalken race on the plane of Mirrodin.

The inclusion of this specific card in 'The List' is part of a recurring initiative by Wizards of the Coast to reprint iconic or mechanically significant cards from the game's history in modern booster packs. By appearing in 'The List', the card retains its original Fifth Dawn card frame and collector numbering, serving as a direct nod to its initial debut. It remains a staple in the Commander format, where its ability to manipulate timing and play speed is highly valued by players who enjoy reactive or control-oriented deck strategies.
