What it does
Whenever a Forest is tapped for mana, its controller adds an additional green mana.
Many cultures have legends of a lush, hidden paradise. The elves of Argoth had no need of such stories.

Where it came from
Vernal Bloom was released in 1998 as part of the Urza's Saga expansion for Magic: The Gathering. The set is historically significant as it introduced the enchantment-heavy themes and the controversial 'free' spell mechanic, representing a period of high-powered, aggressive design philosophy by Wizards of the Coast. The card was designed to incentivize green-aligned decks by accelerating mana production through forests, fitting into the set's broader goal of empowering complex land-based strategies.
The card’s illustration was created by artist Christopher Rush, a foundational figure in Magic: The Gathering's visual identity. Rush opted for a vibrant, organic aesthetic that captured the theme of rapid botanical growth and nature's vitality. Upon its release, the card was recognized for its utility in casual and multiplayer formats, where its symmetric effect—providing extra mana to all players—encouraged intense tactical play and social dynamics during games.
