Viashino Bey

Viashino Bey was released in 1999 as part of the Urza's Legacy set, the second expansion in the Urza's Saga block. The set was designed to build upon the mechanical complexity of its predecessor, continuing the block's focus on artifacts and high-synergy gameplay that significantly shifted the competitive landscape of the era. As a common creature, it was intended to fill out the limited play environment, providing players with a recurring, mana-efficient threat that fit the aggressive flavor of the Viashino reptilian race.

The card’s illustration was provided by Bradley Williams, an artist whose work frequently appeared in the late nineties era of the game. Williams employed a traditional fantasy aesthetic to depict the creature, emphasizing the sharp, angular features and desert-dweller motifs consistent with the Viashino lore.
