Virtue of Strength // Garenbrig Growth

Virtue of Strength // Garenbrig Growth was released in the 2023 Magic: The Gathering set Wilds of Eldraine. The card belongs to the Virtues cycle, a collection of enchantments featuring the Adventure mechanic, which allows players to cast an instant or sorcery from the card before it enters the battlefield as an enchantment. The set revisited the plane of Eldraine, a world heavily inspired by European folklore and fairy tales, seeking to move away from the high-fantasy Camelot aesthetic of the previous set in that plane toward a more whimsical, Grimm-inspired tone.

The card was illustrated by Wisnu Tan, whose work on the set emphasizes the verdant, overgrown nature of the Garenbrig region. The design centers on the dual-identity mechanic, representing both the sudden expansion of natural resources and the long-term, static benefit of mana multiplication. Upon release, the card was received as a high-impact piece for the Commander format, where its ability to triple mana production made it a sought-after staple for green-heavy decks looking to cast high-cost spells efficiently.
