Where it came from
Vivi's Persistence, numbered 17 in the Final Fantasy Scene Box, depicts a poignant moment featuring Vivi Ornitier from Final Fantasy IX. The set was produced as a collectible series celebrating iconic narrative sequences across the franchise, aiming to capture the emotional depth of characters like Vivi, whose search for identity and meaning serves as the thematic core of his journey.
The card’s illustration reflects the distinctive art direction of Final Fantasy IX, which drew inspiration from European fairy tales and theatrical motifs. By focusing on Vivi’s signature posture and his reflective temperament, the designers intended to evoke the melancholic atmosphere of the game. Upon its release, the card was well-received by fans for its focus on character-driven storytelling rather than traditional action-oriented depictions.
