Where it came from
Voice of Many was released in 2019 as part of the Commander 2019 expansion for Magic: The Gathering, specifically featured in the Faceless Menace preconstructed deck. The card was designed to support the 'morph' mechanic, rewarding players for successfully playing creatures face-down and flipping them face-up by providing card advantage based on the number of creatures they control. This set aimed to revitalize underutilized mechanics from past expansions, integrating them into the Commander format’s unique multiplayer landscape.
The card was illustrated by Johannes Voss, a long-standing contributor to the game known for his expressive, painterly style. In creating the artwork for Voice of Many, Voss focused on capturing the surreal and ethereal nature of a collective consciousness manifesting in a forest setting. The design was well-received by the player base for its utility in go-wide strategies, cementing its status as a staple for green-aligned decks that prioritize creature synergy.
