Vrestin, Menoptra Leader

Vrestin, Menoptra Leader is a character card featured in the Doctor Who CCG, which was produced by Battlestone in the early 2000s. The set was created to capitalize on the enduring popularity of the long-running British science fiction series, aiming to capture the aesthetic and narrative breadth of the show’s decades-long history. This specific card focuses on the Menoptra, an insectoid species introduced in the 1965 serial The Web Planet, which remains a notable entry for its ambitious, experimental production design.

The card’s illustration reflects the distinctive costuming of the era, emphasizing the elaborate, theatrical makeup and practical suits designed for the original television broadcast. These cards were generally well-received by fans of the show for their commitment to deep-cut lore and character inclusions from the classic series, serving as both a playable game element and a collectible reference for the show's extensive archive of aliens and companions.
