Warmonger Hellkite

Warmonger Hellkite was first introduced in the Commander 2011 product line, designed to enhance the aggressive capabilities of red-aligned decks. The card was created to serve as a high-impact threat that forces combat, reflecting the chaotic and proactive nature often associated with the dragon creature type in Magic: The Gathering. Its inclusion in the 2018 Commander Anthology Volume II set served as a re-release to provide players with easier access to staple cards from the early years of the Commander format.

The artwork for this card was illustrated by Mike Cenci, who crafted a depiction of a formidable, fire-breathing dragon mid-flight. The design goal was to evoke a sense of impending destruction and battlefield pressure, aligning with the card's mechanic that compels creatures to attack. Upon its release, the card was well-received by the Commander community for its ability to break board stalls and force interaction between opponents, remaining a reliable choice for players prioritizing combat-focused strategies.
