Where it came from
Wedding Security was released in 2021 as part of the Magic: The Gathering set Innistrad: Crimson Vow. This set centered on a gothic horror narrative involving a wedding between two vampires, Olivia Voldaren and Edgar Markov. The card reflects the thematic aesthetic of the plane, depicting a hulking creature tasked with maintaining order at this macabre matrimonial event.
The artwork was illustrated by Livia Prima, who utilized the set's ornate, dark romantic style to visualize the muscle behind the vampire aristocracy. Within the gameplay mechanics, the card features the 'cleave' ability, allowing players to pay a higher cost for a version of the card that affects more targets, a design choice intended to mirror the chaotic nature of an unwanted guest disrupting a high-society vampire wedding.
