Where it came from
Winding Way was released in 2024 as part of the Outlaws of Thunder Junction Commander set. The card is a reprint of a card originally featured in Modern Horizons, designed to fit within the set's overarching themes of high-stakes western adventure and the expansion of the Magic: The Gathering multiverse. Mechanically, it serves as a utility card for green decks, allowing players to bridge the gap between their library and hand or graveyard.
The art for this printing was created by artist Livia Prima, who has contributed numerous illustrations to the game. Her work on this card leans into the rugged, frontier aesthetic of the Thunder Junction plane, emphasizing the themes of journey and discovery central to the set's identity. Upon its release, it was well-received by players for its efficiency in decks that rely on creature density and graveyard synergies.
