Where it came from
Wojek Investigator was introduced in the 2024 Magic: The Gathering set Murders at Karlov Manor. As a card tied to the Ravnica plane, the artwork and flavor text were designed to evoke the gritty, noir-inspired atmosphere of the Ravnican detective agency. The promo version, marked with the collector number 36s, features distinct aesthetic treatments meant to highlight its role within the set's central mystery-solving mechanics.
The card was illustrated to reflect the disciplined, authoritative nature of the Wojek League, the military-police force of the Boros Legion. Artists tasked with these designs often aim to balance the classic fantasy aesthetic of the setting with the specific detective tropes requested for this expansion. Upon release, the card was integrated into play environments where its ability to create Clue tokens serves as both a strategic resource and a narrative nod to the investigation theme of the set.
