Where it came from
Wrangle was released in 2017 as part of the Aether Revolt set, the second expansion in the Kaladesh block for Magic: The Gathering. Set on the plane of Kaladesh, a world defined by its brilliant inventors and aether-powered technology, the card depicts a moment of chaotic kinetic energy. It was created to provide a red-aligned spell that fits the block's focus on artifacts and temporary control, reflecting the volatile nature of the plane's inhabitants.
The card’s illustration was crafted by artist Bastien L. Deharme, who captured the high-stakes, industrial aesthetic of the Kaladesh setting through a dynamic and intense visual style. The design emphasizes the impulsive maneuver of seizing an opponent's construct, mirroring the set's broader mechanical themes of ingenuity and struggle. Upon its release, it was noted by players as a specialized tool for limited-format play, valued for its ability to shift the momentum of a game by briefly weaponizing an opponent's resources.
