Zopandrel, Hunger Dominus // Zopandrel, Hunger Dominus

Zopandrel, Hunger Dominus is a card from the 2023 'Phyrexia: All Will Be One' Art Series, a promotional subset designed to showcase the high-fantasy illustrations found within the main set. The artwork, created by artist Antonio José Manzanedo, depicts the imposing, biomechanical aesthetic of the Phyrexian faction, emphasizing the fusion of flesh and machine that defines the set's thematic narrative. These art cards are non-playable in standard gameplay and were specifically released to provide collectors with a larger, unbordered canvas for the intricate designs found throughout the expansion.

The design of the card reflects Wizards of the Coast's ongoing effort to elevate the visual storytelling of Magic: The Gathering. Manzanedo’s work was intended to capture the overwhelming scale and terrifying nature of the Dominus cycle, a group of powerful creatures central to the Phyrexian invasion storyline. Upon its release, the Art Series was well-received by collectors who prioritize the aesthetic components of the hobby, serving as a popular way to appreciate the professional illustration commissioned for the set without the logistical concerns of game balance or mechanics.
