ACCA - 13-ku Kansatsuka Gaiden - Paula & Michelle

ACCA: 13-ku Kansatsuka Gaiden - Paula & Michelle is a spin-off manga written and illustrated by Natsume Ono, serving as a companion piece to her acclaimed political thriller series, ACCA: 13-Territory Inspection Department. Published in the wake of the original series' conclusion, this volume focuses on the daily lives and burgeoning friendship between two secondary characters, Paula and Michelle, who inhabit the same richly realized, fictional world of Dōwa. The narrative serves to expand upon the atmospheric setting and character-driven storytelling that defined the main series, offering a more intimate, slice-of-life perspective.

Ono Natsume’s signature art style—characterized by minimalist lines, expressive character posture, and a muted, sophisticated color palette—is central to the appeal of this volume. She designed the narrative to contrast with the high-stakes political intrigue of the original ACCA, opting instead for a quiet, rhythmic exploration of character dynamics. Upon release, the work was well-received by fans of the original series who valued Ono’s ability to imbue mundane interactions with thematic depth and stylistic elegance, solidifying the volume's place as a meaningful extension of the ACCA universe.
