Where it came from
And It Will Be Sunny, authored by Tendou Kirin, emerged from the vibrant landscape of late-20th-century manga culture. Created during a period when slice-of-life narratives were gaining significant traction among readers seeking emotional resonance, the work was crafted to capture the quiet, introspective moments of everyday existence. The author aimed to balance minimalist aesthetic sensibilities with a deeply character-driven plot, focusing on themes of patience and atmospheric storytelling.
The reception of the series was defined by its subtle approach, which appealed to a dedicated audience of seinen readers who valued craft over spectacle. Critics often highlighted Kirin's ability to utilize negative space and evocative framing to convey the internal states of the protagonists, marking the volume as a notable example of the contemplative sub-genre of manga. It remains a quiet touchstone for those interested in the evolution of indie-leaning serialized narratives.
