Where it came from
Kimi ga Kokoro ni Sumitsuita S is the direct sequel to Kirin Tendou’s popular psychological romance manga, Kimi ga Kokoro ni Sumitsuita. The series, which translates to The Person Who Resides in My Heart, originated in the josei manga magazine Kiss. It serves as a narrative continuation that follows the lead character, Kyoko Ogawa, as she navigates the complexities of her past relationships and personal growth after the events of the original run.
Kirin Tendou is known for a nuanced, often unsettling exploration of emotional dependency and toxic dynamics. The artwork utilizes sharp character expressions and intimate paneling to emphasize the internal friction of the protagonists. The series was well-received by readers of the josei genre for its willingness to portray the messy, non-linear progression of healing, distinguishing it from more conventional romance titles.
