Where it came from
Angel Nisshi is a manga series created by the artist Gotou Kazu, published in the late 1990s. The work emerged during a period of experimentation within the seinen manga demographic, focusing on themes that blend fantasy elements with character-driven narrative arcs. It is recognized for the author's distinct illustrative style, which emphasizes expressive character designs and atmospheric paneling to ground its supernatural premise.
The series was conceived as a standalone or short-run exploration of its titular character's journey. Gotou Kazu intended to capture a sense of melancholy and ethereal wonder, utilizing the medium to convey visual storytelling that relied heavily on minimalist dialogue and evocative imagery. While it remains a niche entry in the landscape of late-nineties manga, it is appreciated by collectors of Gotou Kazu's work for its consistent aesthetic vision and its departure from more mainstream genre conventions of the time.
