Where it came from
Arata: The Legend, or Arata Kangatari, was originally serialized in Weekly Shonen Sunday beginning in 2008. Watase Yuu, celebrated for her mastery of fantasy and emotional depth, crafted this series as an epic tale blending Japanese mythology with parallel-world tropes. The story follows a boy named Arata who is thrust into a chaotic world where he must navigate political intrigue and wield divine tools known as Hayagami.
The Remastered-ban edition was released to coincide with the series' tenth anniversary and later developments in the manga’s narrative. Watase meticulously redrew and retouched significant portions of the original artwork, aiming to refine the visual storytelling and bring the character designs closer to her evolved aesthetic. The revision was well-received by fans for offering a more cohesive and polished experience, demonstrating the author's ongoing dedication to her work as she sought to address long-standing health complications that had previously impacted her production pace.
