Aschaffenburger Zeitung: amtliches Organ der NSDAP und der Staats- und Gemeindebehörden. 1880,1/6

The Aschaffenburger Zeitung originated as a regional publication in the late 19th century, serving as a primary source of news for the Bavarian town of Aschaffenburg. During its early years, such as the 1880 volume represented here, the paper functioned as a traditional civic organ, documenting local government proceedings, legislative updates, and community affairs, reflecting the standard journalistic practices of the German Empire during that era.

Following the rise of the National Socialist movement, the newspaper’s identity shifted significantly as it became an official outlet for the NSDAP. This transition turned the publication into a vehicle for political alignment and state propaganda, reflecting the broader trend of the Gleichschaltung, or the synchronization of German media with party ideology. The paper eventually ceased publication in the mid-20th century, and its surviving volumes are now held in archival collections, serving as historical records of provincial political transition.
