Ashi no Ura no Iris

Ashi no Ura no Iris is a work by the artist Kurimoto Kentaro, emerging from the niche landscape of early 2000s independent manga and illustrative storytelling. The title reflects the artist's focus on stylized character aesthetics and thematic explorations common in alternative doujinshi culture of that era, where creators often experimented with surrealism and intimate, character-driven narratives outside of mainstream publishing constraints.

The design of this volume relies heavily on Kentaro's distinct visual vocabulary, characterized by fluid linework and a deliberate, atmospheric approach to composition. As a collection, it is regarded by enthusiasts of the medium for its artistic cohesion and the specific aesthetic sensibilities that Kentaro cultivated during his active years, serving as a representative example of how individual creators used self-publishing to build focused, stylistically rigorous worlds for a dedicated readership.
