Attack on Titan - Continuation of Volume 18's Fake Preview (Doujinshi)

The 'Fake Previews' featured at the end of Hajime Isayama’s Attack on Titan volumes were tongue-in-cheek, alternate-universe sketches that depicted the characters in a modern-day high school setting. These short, comedic segments garnered a dedicated following for their departure from the series' grim, apocalyptic tone. Nozawa Yukiko, who assisted Isayama as a background artist and contributor on the main series, created this specific doujinshi as an unofficial expansion of the concept introduced in volume 18, allowing for a deeper exploration of the school-life aesthetic that fans found charmingly incongruous with the source material.

As an independent fan publication, or doujinshi, this work falls within the long-standing tradition of Japanese hobbyist culture where creators produce derivative content based on popular intellectual property. Produced for distribution at fan events, the item reflects the interplay between professional mangaka and the community surrounding their work. Because it is an unofficial project, it maintains a niche status as a collector's item, prized primarily by those interested in the artistic process of Isayama’s assistants and the evolution of the series' peripheral world-building.
