Basketful of Heads (2019-2020) #7

Basketful of Heads was launched in 2019 as the inaugural title of DC Comics' Hill House Comics, a boutique horror imprint curated by author Joe Hill. The series, written by Hill and illustrated by artist Leomacs, blends elements of classic slasher cinema with a supernatural twist, centering on a woman named June Branch who wields an ancient Viking axe that keeps decapitated heads alive. Issue #7 serves as a pivotal installment in the limited series, maintaining the dark, pulp-inspired aesthetic that defined the imprint's mission to bring high-concept, tension-filled storytelling to the modern comic medium.

Leomacs provided the interior art for the series, opting for a gritty, expressive style that complements the macabre subject matter. The visual direction was designed to evoke a sense of coastal dread and domestic isolation, grounded in the aesthetics of mid-century horror. Upon its release, the series was well-regarded by critics and readers for its tight pacing and creative use of its unique central premise, establishing Hill House Comics as a significant entry point for readers interested in genre-focused graphic fiction.
