BATMAN and THE JUSTICE LEAGUE

Batman and the Justice League, a manga series written and illustrated by Shiori Teshirogi, was launched in 2017 within the pages of Akita Shoten's Champion RED magazine. The project emerged from a unique collaboration between DC Comics and the Japanese publishing house, aiming to reinterpret iconic American superheroes through the distinct visual and narrative conventions of manga. Teshirogi, widely recognized for her work on Saint Seiya: The Lost Canvas, was selected to lead the adaptation, bringing a dynamic, high-energy aesthetic to the legendary team.

The narrative follows a young boy who travels to Gotham City, where he eventually encounters Batman and the rest of the Justice League as they contend with the combined threat of the Joker and Darkseid. Teshirogi's design approach focused on maintaining the core essence of the DC icons while grounding them in a serialized manga format that emphasizes character internalities and rhythmic action sequences. Upon its release, the series was received as a stylistic bridge between Western comic book legacy and the globally pervasive Japanese manga tradition, finding a niche among fans of both mediums.
