Bibliografia italiana: bollettino delle pubblicazioni italiane ; ricevute per diritto di stampa dalla Biblioteca Nazionale Centrale di Firenze

The Bibliografia italiana was established as an official organ of the Biblioteca Nazionale Centrale di Firenze, serving as the primary record for the Italian national bibliography following the unification of Italy. Its publication was mandated by legal deposit laws, which required publishers to submit copies of their works to the library to ensure the preservation and cataloging of the country's intellectual output. This initiative was part of a broader effort to modernize Italian library science and provide a comprehensive, standardized bibliographic record for the new nation.

The publication was designed to function as a systematic, recurring bulletin, tracking the flow of Italian literature, scholarly journals, and scientific papers as they were received by the library. The editorial approach prioritized meticulous classification and administrative accuracy, reflecting the rigor of late 19th-century European bibliographic practices. It remains a foundational reference for researchers documenting the cultural and publishing history of Italy during the transition from the Risorgimento into the 20th century.
