Where it came from
Black Jack×bj is a unique reimagining of Osamu Tezuka’s legendary medical manga, Black Jack, illustrated by Akihito Yoshitomi. This project emerged from a commemorative effort to explore the iconic surgeon through a modern lens, emphasizing a sleek, contemporary aesthetic that contrasts with the original 1970s serial art style while maintaining the dramatic, ethical dilemmas central to the franchise.
Yoshitomi, known for his polished line work and character-focused narratives, aimed to highlight the mystery and clinical coldness of the protagonist. The work was received by the manga community as a stylish tribute, valued for its ability to distill the essence of Tezuka's complex masterpiece into a refined, visually striking volume that appeals to long-time admirers of the source material.
