Boushoku no Berserk: Ore dake Level to Iu Gainen o Toppa Suru, known in English as Berserk of Gluttony, originated as a light novel series written by Isshiki Ichika and illustrated by fame. It began serialization on the user-generated content site Shōsetsuka ni Narō in 2017 before being acquired for publication by Micro Magazine under their GC Novels imprint. The story follows Fate Graphite, a man cursed with a gluttonous skill that grants him the powers of those he defeats, exploring themes of power consumption and social displacement common in contemporary Japanese fantasy literature.

The narrative transitioned into a manga adaptation, illustrated by Daisuke Takino, which debuted on the Comic Ride website in 2018. The design and visual direction focus on a dark, high-fantasy aesthetic that emphasizes the protagonist’s descent into a brutal cycle of growth and starvation. Upon its release, the series was well-received by fans of the progression fantasy genre, eventually leading to an anime adaptation that further expanded the reach of Ichika's original premise and Takino's character interpretations.
