Boushoku no Berserk: Ore Dake Level to Iu Gainen wo Toppa Shite Saikyou

Boushoku no Berserk, or Berserk of Gluttony, originated as a Japanese light novel series written by Isshiki Ichika and illustrated by fame. It began serialization on the user-generated novel publishing website Shōsetsuka ni Narō in early 2017 before being acquired by Micro Magazine. The narrative follows Fate Graphite, a gatekeeper cursed with a hunger-inducing skill, and it draws heavily from the tropes of dark fantasy and power-level progression common in the isekai and light novel boom of the late 2010s.

The character designs and visual aesthetic were refined for the print release by the artist fame, whose work emphasizes the contrast between the bleak, oppressive atmosphere of the world and the glowing, aggressive nature of the protagonist's unique combat abilities. The series was well-received within the light novel community for its visceral depiction of growth and consequence, leading to a manga adaptation by Daisuke Takino and eventually a television anime production that helped cement its reach beyond the initial digital release.
