Boys Over Flowers, originally titled Hana Yori Dango, was created by mangaka Yoko Kamio and serialized in the shojo magazine Margaret from 1992 to 2003. Born out of the vibrant landscape of 1990s Japanese manga, the series was designed to blend high-stakes romantic comedy with a satirical critique of extreme wealth and social stratification.
