Brocken Blood

Brocken Blood is a manga series written and illustrated by Etorouji Shiono, first serialized in the late 1990s. The work belongs to the dark fantasy and action genres, reflecting the author's characteristic interest in blending occult themes, gothic aesthetics, and high-stakes combat. It emerged during a period when Shiono was establishing his distinct visual style, which emphasizes sharp line work and atmospheric, often bleak environments.

The narrative follows a group of individuals caught in a conflict involving supernatural forces and secret organizations. Shiono designed the series to explore themes of betrayal and hidden history, utilizing a fast-paced storytelling approach that prioritizes kinetic action sequences. While not as widely circulated as his later works like Ubel Blatt, Brocken Blood is recognized by followers of his bibliography as a foundational project that refined the complex character designs and grim world-building that would define his later career.
