Bukita-kun

Bukita-kun is a horror-manga character created by Inuki Kanako, a prominent figure in the Japanese horror manga scene often referred to as the queen of horror manga. The character originates from an episodic series that showcases Kanako's signature style, which blends grotesque imagery with unsettling psychological themes. These stories were typically published in shojo and horror anthologies during the 1990s, a period when the genre enjoyed a significant surge in popularity among young readers who were drawn to the dark, transgressive nature of her narrative craft.

The design of the character reflects the author's focus on the uncanny, utilizing expressive, high-contrast line work to elicit a sense of unease. Kanako’s work is characterized by its exploration of social alienation and domestic dread, using the titular figure to navigate dark, often surreal scenarios. While the series remains a cult classic rather than a mainstream phenomenon, it is frequently cited by enthusiasts of the horror genre for its unique atmosphere and the way it pushed the boundaries of traditional manga tropes of the era.
